At the opening of the first international consumer rights protection week in Georgia, Maia Melikidze, the Commissioner of GNERC, delivered a speech during the university reception.  GNERC's commissioner emphasized the importance of educating students about consumer rights and issues related to energy and water supply.

"As a Commissioner of GNERC, and a lecturer of Caucasus University and the University of Business and Technology, I am glad that today's meeting is attended by students and university representatives. It is very important to inform them about the rights of consumers in the energy and water supply sectors. GNERC has implemented a number of projects in the direction of consumer rights protection, paying great attention to the implementation of Commission decisions by utility companies. Precisely for this purpose, we periodically implement the "Mystic User" project, which clearly shows the challenges in the protection of consumer rights. Our goal is to make more young students interested in the projects implemented by GNERC, in the activities of the energy and water supply sectors. Our colleague agencies have the same interest. This was the basis for today's event, which is organized by 6 agencies within the framework of the international consumer rights protection week," Maia Melikidze said during her speech.

On March 13-17, the first international consumer rights protection week will be held in Georgia, organized by GNERC, the Georgian National Competition Agency, the Communications Commission of Georgia, the National Bank, the Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia, and the National Food Agency. Within the framework of the event, the regulatory agencies will discuss the reforms carried out in the direction of the protection of consumer rights, the obtained results, existing challenges, enforcement mechanisms, effective consumer awareness campaigns, and international experiences.
