Maia Melikidze, Comisssioner of Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) and the Chair of Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA), delivered a presentation at the launch ceremony of NARUC's Gender Equity Project. Her presentation concerned with the career development stages for women and increase of self-motivation. The Commissioner Melikidze is invited speaker and the mentor/coach of W-GDP program.
Women's Global Development and Prosperity Initiative (W-GDP) – Advancing Women Leaders in Energy – is a 2-year project founded by USAID and implemented by NARUC with participants from the Europe and Eurasia region. It will feature two rounds, one beginning now and last for 7-8 months. The second round will begin for new participants in fall 2021.
Each round will feature two tracks: one at human resources level to focus on improving energy regulatory authority's policies and processes in terms of gender equity. For this purpose, the project established the Human Resource Working Group, where Ekaterine Shekriladze, representative of GNERC's International Relation's department will participate. The Human Resource Working Group will identify barriers specific to their country's context and collect and analyze hiring and career advancement information disaggregated by gender The second track focuses on mid-career women to help build individual leadership and communication skills while promoting career path development. Deputy director of the Public Relation's department and the press-speaker of GNERC – Ketevan Berikashvili – will participate in the second track.
