Davit Narmania, the Chairman of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission at the meeting dedicated to water supply issues spoke about GNERC's tariff policy and visions. He focused on the importance of tariff reform for the water supply sector and necessity of a new tariff methodology that will promote the effective development of the sector. The representatives of the Association of European Regulators in the drinking water and wastewater sector (WAREG) peer reviewed the draft of the new tariff methodology, and positively evaluated it giving their recommendations. At the meeting, they discussed the recommendations of foreign experts and discussed the experience of European countries.

The new water supply tariff methodology developed by GNERC, which is the main component of the water supply tariff reform, is based on the best international experience and aims to eliminate both technical and commercial problems in the water supply sector in a short term.

WAREG is the European network of water regulators that brings together regulatory commissions and government agencies from different countries. The aim of the association is to promote the development of close cooperation between its Members, sharing of knowledge and experiences, and support the full implementation of the EU Water Acquis. GNERC is a member and founder of the association. Currently WAREG is formed by 24 Members and 8 Observers spanning all across Europe.
