26.01.2024 Release
Electricity consumers all over Georgia will receive a receipt with a new, reduced tariff. The Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) has decided to reduce the tariff for all categories of electricity consumers by 3 Tetri per 1 kW/h, effective from the first of January this year. In the regions, JSC ‘EP Georgia Supply’ has already begun sending receipts calculated with the new tariff to consumers. Meanwhile, in Tbilisi, the ‘Tbilisi Electricity Supplier Company’ (Telmiko) will start sending receipts to subscribers from January 30.
According to statistical data compiled by the Tariffs and Economic Analysis Department of GNERC, the reduced tariff positively impacts all categories of consumers, particularly non-household, commercial-type consumers whose annual consumption exceeds 500,000 kWh. Among these, commercial customers connected to the JSC ‘Telasi’ network save an average of 5,500 GEL monthly, while those connected to the JSC ‘Energo Pro Georgia’ network save an average of 12,838 GEL.
In total, the average monthly savings resulting from the reduction of electricity tariffs for commercial customers are distributed as follows:
The analysis, presented by the Tariffs and Economic Analysis Department of GNERC, is based on the monthly and annual electricity consumption figures of commercial customers connected to the networks of distribution companies. Specifically, the forecast indicators are calculated based on the actual consumption data from 2023
