6.07.2023 Release

6 July, 2023

The Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) has imposed fines on Telasi JSC and Energo Pro Georgia JSC totaling 75,000-75,000 GEL. The penalties were levied due to the decline in the reliability indicators of electricity supply and the incomplete reporting of information in GNERC's electronic journal. The companies are required to remit the fines to the state budget.

Following the decision of GNERC Chairman Davit Narmania, a monitoring working group was established to oversee the reliability indicators of electricity supply by Telasi JSC and Energo Pro Georgia JSC. The group focused on analyzing the System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI, minutes/customer) and the System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI, interruptions/customer) for the companies' performance in 2022. The findings revealed that the reliability indicators of electricity supply by both Telasi JSC and Energo Pro Georgia JSC were worse compared to the previous year. Additionally, the companies had not adequately reported this information in GNERC's electronic journal.

Telasi JSC and Energo Pro Georgia JSC have been directed to investigate the factors responsible for the decline in electricity supply reliability during 2022. They are required to present a plan for rectifying these issues to the Commission no later than September 1, 2023.
