Thermal power plants (guaranteed capacity)

For the Guaranteed Capacity Sources, the Commission sets guaranteed capacity fee and marginal (upper margin) tariff for electricity generation.

Guaranteed capacity sources are used to ensure the sustainable, safe and reliable functioning of the whole electric energy system. The guaranteed capacity sources are defined by the Government of Georgia individually based on the guaranteed capacity and period during which this source provides the system with guaranteed capacity.

GoG Decree #193 issued on July 15, 2010 defined the Guaranteed Capacity Sources in the electric energy system of Georgia, the volume of guaranteed capacity provided by these sources and the periods of providing the guaranteed capacity. The guaranteed capacity fee for each source of guaranteed capacity is determined in the Commission Decision #33 of December 4, 2008.
